VGIK filmfest hosting Iran’s 'Khoniyar’s Children'

Iran doc 'Khoniyar’s Children' is screening at VGIK Student Fest in Russia.

Iranian medium-length documentary movie 'Khoniyar’s Children' is currently screening at the VGIK International Student Festival in Russia.

The film, made by Arman Qolipour-Dashtaki will be among the competition titles of the Russian fest’s 41st run.

‘Khoniyar’s Children’ is about four siblings, who are all over 70 and never married. They are all isolated and live together as the villagers have shunted them for they believe the four of them are ominous and bring bad luck for the residents of the village.

The story of the film was originally introduced to Qolipour-Dashtaki by the locals when he was filming for his previous documentary movie.

He has said to the media that he is being blessed to live among the people of this geographical region of Iran, because here is rich with folk subjects to make real to life movies.

‘Khoniyar’s Children’ has already participated in a number of global events, including the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in the US, the Trento Film Festival in Italy and the Krakow Film Festival in Poland.

The 41st edition of the VGIK has been undergoing since November 15 and is set to wrap up on November 19 in Moscow. This year, the festival received 167 applications from 48 countries and 114 film schools.
